Greenham Parish Council (GPC) owns the Greenham Common Control Tower, which is Grade II listed.
GPC proposed the redevelopment of the Control Tower as a Visitors’ Centre, with café and toilets. The refurbishment and redevelopment is substantially complete, mainly funded by grant money, and needs completing. The council is legally committed to completing the project
The completion of the redevelopment, and the funding of a professional project manager to oversee this, will be partially funded by GPC reserves and a loan of up to £100,000. This loan will be repaid out of GPC income from Parish Precepts (a small proportion of the total Council Tax paid by Greenham residents). There will be no increase in the household GPC Parish Precept for 2017-18.
When the redevelopment is complete, the Greenham Common Control Tower Visitors’ Centre will provide facilities for everyone visiting the common, along with an interpretation centre covering the varied and important history of Greenham Common.
