This workshop aims to bring together journalists looking for AI-driven solutions to their work challenges and researchers keen on exploring the technological and ethical impact of those solutions in newsrooms
The morning session will feature presentations from leading experts: Laurens Vreekamp, Dr. Tomás Dodds, Dr. Reshmi Pillai, and Dr. Theresa Seipp. They will discuss AI trends, case studies, and techniques, providing a thorough overview of how AI is transforming journalistic practices .
In the afternoon session, journalists and researchers will engage in collaborative group work to address practical challenges where AI can provide meaningful solutions. Within a design thinking framework, participants will identify key issues and brainstorm innovative approaches, with researchers embedded in each group to offer insights from a technical standpoint. By the end of the day, journalists will develop a storyboard of a potential AI-driven solution that can be taken back to their newsrooms, demonstrating how AI could effectively address specific operational challenges.
