In 2015, the market operates outside every Thursday from 3pm - 7pm at the Waterloo Public Square (at the corner of King Street and Willis Way in Waterloo). Our 21 week season opens May 18 and the final market is October 26, 2017.
Here are the details you need to know in order to join our Market Family:
All vendors at the UpTown Market must buy a membership to the Waterloo Farmers and Crafters’ Market Co-operative annually.
This $10 annual membership fee includes necessary business permitting for vending at the market, liability insurance coverage (for low risk vendors who may otherwise not have coverage), inclusion in all of our promotional material where applicable and voting privileges for all co-op business.
On top of your annual membership, vendors are charged for weekly vending space at the following rates for the 2015 season:
Single Space (10’x10’): $25 weekly and Seasonally $367.50
Double Space (10’x20’): $40 weekly and Seasonally $735.00
Triple Space (10x30): $55 weekly, and Seasonally $ 2,205.00
Information booths for non-profit organizations are free of charge and will be considered on a case by case basis.
As a member of the Co-op you can help to keep your market fees low by volunteering to make this the best market in the Region! Opportunities will be made available to you such as committee work, activity and event planning or helping out on market days. There are volunteer opportunities for all levels of interests and availabilities. Please contact us for more information
In order to become a vendor at the UpTown Market, you must first fill out the attached application form.
The Vendor Committee will review your form and follow up with you regarding the status of your application.
Our vendors are sectioned into 4 distinct groups:
Farmer: Producers of farm products (fruit, vegetables, meat, poultry, dairy, fish, grains & seeds, honey, maple products and plants/flowers), who are selling or offering for sale their own products or a maximum of 25% products from another producer. (Public health inspection may be required)
Processed Food goods: Hand made food items such as baked goods, preserves, and cheeses. (Public Health inspection is required)
Arts & Crafts: Handmade goods produced or created by the vendor from raw or basic materials which are changed into a significantly different shape, design, form or function using a special skill or manual art. Articles cannot be commercially fabricated or produced in any way.
Other: Community based services & public based interest “non-profit”.
*Please note that the UpTown Market does not allow re-sale items to be sold at the market unless such product was hand made or grown by a grass-roots person or organization known personally to the vendor or the product is deemed to significantly add to the atmosphere of the market by our board. even then, only a maximum of 25% of a booth can represent resale items unless special considerations are made by the board.
Success of this market depends greatly on consistency among it’s vendors. The Waterloo Farmers and Crafters’ Market Co-operative strongly encourages you to come out for every week of the market season for the success of your own business as well as the success of others.
