Downtown Redmond 2 Line Opening Celebration: Trails 2 Transit Volunteer Registration

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Downtown Redmond 2 Line Opening Celebration!

The event takes place on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm.

The event is billed to take place from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm, however, we ask participants to be set and ready by 10:30 am. From experience, the station area will begin filling up around two hours before the ribbon cutting at 12:00 pm, and participant set up becomes very difficult to complete after 10:30 am.

The event will activate Downtown Redmond station, the Redmond Central Connector trail, and Redmond Central Connector Park.

We are excited to work with you this year. Please take a few minutes to complete this Volunteer Registration form, and feel free to contact Jordan Adams at jordana@moveredmond.org with any questions. Please sign up for as many shifts as you'd like! We'd love to have you in any and every capacity; these events wouldn't be possible without heaps of help from our community.

Thank you!
Event Setup Volunteers

This position is great for people that like to hustle, wake up early, and make the magic happen! Setup volunteers tasks include: help participants load in their tents and tables to ensure on time set up. Set up of stage equipment, hanging signage, setting garbage stations, bike rodeo, and ensuring cones and road barriers are properly placed at the time of the official street closure at 9:00 a.m. Some jobs will require lifting of 20-30 lbs, such as helping participants carry tents and folding tables, but accommodations can be made for those uncomfortable lifting that type of weight. Eight morning shifts available.
Bike and Kids' Area Volunteers

Bike and Kids' Area volunteers help facilitate fun biking and kid-focused activities! We provide all the supplies, activites range from a Bike Rodeo, to Bike Decorating, fun with bubbles, jump rope and games, and more. Three morning and three afternoon shifts available.
Light Rail Station Volunteer

Help direct people at the station to the rest of the Celebration, happening along the Central Connector trail to Central Connector Park and Downtown Park. There will be signage to guide people along the route, and Lime bikes and scooters for people to use if they wish.
Floater

Floaters fill in where needed as the day progresses. We think we have anticipated all of our needs and expect all volunteers to show-up, but sometimes the unexpected happens and these positions are essential to a successful event. Two morning and two afternoon shifts available.
Teardown Volunteers

As crucial as setup volunteers, our teardown volunteers are very important to making sure the event is a success. Teardown volunteers help usher participants back onto the sidewalks and move equipment from the right-of-way, and load into appropriate vehicles prior to reopening the streets. This job may require lifting 20-30 lbs, but accommodations can be made for volunteers uncomfortable lifting that type of weight. Other duties include: helping to break down tents, tables, and chairs and ensuring that we are ready to fully reopen to traffic by 4 p.m. Breaking down the Protected Bike Lane, the bike rodeo station, and aiding any community group that may need help buttoning up their activation. Helping vendor vehicles safely enter and exit the zone as folks load up their equipment prior to reopening to traffic. Eight afternoon shifts available.
Information Booth Volunteers

Information Booth volunteers help attendees learn about all the fun things to do at the event! Hand out swag like patch kits and stickers, answer questions about the different participants and stage programs, and let attendees know the mission behind the event, and the campaign for public transportation, Safer Streets, and more mobility options in Redmond. Information Booth volunteer positions are well suited for volunteers that like to chat, sit in the shade or sun for the majority of the day, and talk shop about Safer Streets! Three morning and three afternoon shifts available.
Area Supervisor

We have five distinct areas of the Celebration that will need coordinated, general supervision. This job is best suited for people that are quick to try and solve a problem, able to read a site plan and follow a production schedule with specific timing, and enjoy being on radio as part of the supervisory team. Five morning, five afternoon, and five midday shifts available.
Stage Liaisons

Africans on the Eastside is coordinating with most of our stage programs, but we'll need someone to assist them with stage management. This job is best suited for someone that likes to work directly with talent, and help keep people and programs on schedule. You'll be on radio working directly with Africans on the Eastside, our Main Stage talent, and our internal team, to ensure our stage programs are executed on time and without issues. No A/V work or experience is needed for the Stage Liaison role. two morning and two afternoon shifts available.
