Background - Part of the mission of UNDERC is to facilitate important environmental research at the Land O'Lakes site. In order to coordinate research amongst investigators and maintain the facility for all users, proposed projects are reviewed for their scientific merit and also their potential impact on the site. This application requests information to facilitate review by a Science and Education Committee and the Land O'Lakes Advisory Board. Project approval may be requested for up to five years.

Minimal - observational studies or experimental manipulations that are limited in their spatial or temporal scale (e.g., <10 m^2, weeks of system change).

Moderate- experimental manipulations where the are impacted is large, but the system will have recovered by the next field season.

Significant- experimental manipulations that are designed to be large in scale and the system will be impacted for multiple years (e.g., felling of large numbers of trees, multi-year large-scale treatments)

Justify your selection for site impact. Describe the expected duration of recovery from the project's impact. Use citations from the literature as appropriate. *
