Ho Minti Society Culture Camp 2025

Ho Minti Society is hosting our Third Annual Culture Camp at the beautiful North Toledo Bend State Park. The camp this year will be all day June 22-25, inclusive and camp hours are from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. We will include the link to the full schedule after you register. 

GENERAL INFORMATION

Fees: Registration fee is $25. Nobody will be turned away for inability to pay.

HMS writes grants and solicits donations cover the costs of the camp (approximately $300 per child). Tax deductible donations are appreciated from those who have the financial means.

 PARENT/ GUARDIAN/ ATTENDEE RESPONSIBILITY 

* If your child has a special diet, bring a sack lunch 
* Pay a $25 nonrefundable registration (per attendee) 
* Attendees are expected to attend all days unless otherwise agreed
* Parents are expected to drop off and pick up attendees on time. 
Health history provided to Ho Minti Society for child. List illnesses and allergies. This includes food, insect, and plant allergies. 
* Parents or guardians will be expected to administer any medication. 
* Let organizers know about any special needs of attendees.

* Waiver of Liability / Hold Harmless Agreement 

By registering, parent/ guardian agrees that attendee has permission to engage in all camp activities except as indicated as a restriction provided to Ho Minti Society. In case of an emergency/accident, I hereby grant permission to Ho Minti Society and or State Park staff to render to my child any preventative first aid and to send my child to the nearest medical facility. Ho Minti staff will not administer medication to children. A parent or guardian must be present for all medication needs. 

ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF RISK AND RELEASE FROM LIABILITY   

Campers are encouraged to participate in most activities. There will be a resting place or quiet place for those needing a break from physical activities. Participation in some of the camp activities requires an acceptance of risk of injury. I rightfully assume that those who are responsible for activities have taken reasonable precautions to minimize such risk to my child and that other participants in activities will not intentionally inflict injury upon him/her. I hereby assume all risks associated with participation in Ho Minti Society Camp and agree to hold harmless Ho Minti Society, its directors, officers, employees, agents, and volunteers from and against any and all claims, demands, losses or liability of any kind or nature which may arise in connection with injuries suffered to my child while participating in Ho Minti Society Culture Camp 2025.

ORIENTATION

Orientation for all camp attendees will be the morning of June 22, 2025.  Both day campers and overnight campers will check-in at the main building at Group Camp #1 to obtain their camp packet/materials. Additional details will be sent via email prior to the camp.

All campers staying overnight onsite must have at least one parent/ guardian staying. Overnight campers must bring bed linens/sleeping bag, personal hygiene items, flashlight and personal snacks that can be kept in their cabin. Breakfast, light lunch and dinner will be served in the main conference building. If parents wish to cook outside there is a cooking pit provided and one grill/smoker.  At no time should your child be left unattended around fires. Additional information will be sent via email prior to camp.                                                                     

BY REGISTERING, I UNDERSTAND THAT I AGREE TO THE HOLD HARMLESS WAIVER. 

CAMP WILL PROVIDE 
*Climate controlled indoor classroom as well as outdoor activities 
* Meals, drinks and snacks (we can not accommodate all dietary needs) 
*Increased knowledge and connection to nature
*An awareness of their growing physical bodies through dance and sports
* Education on a variety of craft-making and the items and equipment necessary
* The opportunity to learn traditional knowledge
*An engaging and activity centered space in which to interact with peers and elders
*An environment where they are encouraged to express their creativity
*Instruction to participants in creating regalia pieces that will be theirs to keep

Actual materials and camp costs exceed $300 per attendee, but Ho Minti is offering this four day camp for only $25 per person, but nobody will be turned away due to inability to pay. Those who have the ability are enouraged to cover the cost of camp and help those facing financial hardship or low income challenges. 

OPTIONAL
~Attendees under 7,  will be considered, space permitting, with full-time parental supervision. 

ADULT PARTICIPATION 
~Parents/guardians are required to attend for all days/nights if their child is camping overnight. Parents/ guardians of day campers welcome to attend and encouraged to participate, but you must also register. Fees for parents/guardians will be waived in exchange for volunteer hours during camp. However, you MUST consent to a background check. All adult volunteers/presenters will have background checks completed before camp begins.
