AEMEE was established in 2005 with the vision of gaining true market share for Indigenous businesses within the resource and energy sector. Through networking and events we develop and connect Indigenous businesses with real opportunities. Our core values lie within promoting Aboriginal economic development, building the capacity of Indigenous enterprises, advancing the interests of a growing sector and creating meaningful relationships with Communities, Industry and Government.

On behalf of the AEMEE Board, Executive, staff and volunteers, we strongly stand by a nation of integrity for the Indigenous Business Sector and do not promote unethical practices including Black Cladding or any other practices that inhibit the advancement of Indigenous people for economic empowerment.

AEMEE hosted events that can be affiliated to AEMEE before, during and after the events, that has any potential to negatively impact the reputation of AEMEE.

1. Respect for Others:

Treat all fellow Indigenous Businesses, key stakeholders, staff, volunteers, and guests with respect, kindness, and consideration.

Embrace diversity and inclusivity, and refrain from engaging in any form of discrimination, harassment, or bullying based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, or any other characteristic.

Listen actively and communicate constructively, valuing different perspectives and opinions.

2. Professionalism:

Conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times, both within our organisation and when representing it externally.

Respect confidentiality and privacy, refraining from disclosing sensitive information without proper authorisation.

Avoid engaging in conflicts of interest that may compromise the integrity or impartiality of our organisation.

3. Compliance with Policies and Laws:

Familiarise yourself with and adhere to all applicable policies, rules, and regulations established by our organisation.

Comply with local, national, and international laws and regulations in all your activities related to our organisation.

4. Collaboration and Contribution:

Actively participate in the activities and initiatives of our organisation, contributing your skills, knowledge, and time for the benefit of the community.

Collaborate with fellow Indigenous Businesses, staff, and volunteers in a cooperative and supportive manner, fostering teamwork and synergy.

5. Reporting Violations:

If you witness or experience any behaviour that violates this code of conduct, promptly report it to the appropriate authority within our organisation.

Reports will be handled with confidentiality and sensitivity, and appropriate actions will be taken to address the situation.

By becoming apart of the AEMEE Family and AEMEE’s Indigenous Business Network you agree to uphold the principles and standards outlined in this code of conduct. Together, we can create a positive and inclusive community where everyone feels valued and respected.

AEMEE reserves the right to amend this code of conduct as necessary and terminate the subscription of any Indigenous Business that does not adhere to the principles and values outlined in this document without reservation. This includes the right of refusal to attend any AEMEE hosted events.

AEMEE Data Handling Policy 2024

This Policy details how AEMEE (we, us, our) collects, uses, and discloses data obtained from our members, partners and affiliates. While this Policy performs some of the functions which are inherent in the protection of personal information, it does not, and is not intended to, address privacy compliance.

What data do we collect?
We collect business, commercial and financial data (Your Data) from you about your business (Your Business), primarily through the forms you complete for us. We only access and use that Your Data as required for the uses prescribed below.

What is the data used for?
AEMEE collects Your Data for limited reasons, namely:
(a) to inform peer comparisons with other organisations which contribute to AEMEE (i.e. within AEMEE, within sector, and across whole of industry), (Group Data); and
(b) for anonymised aggregation and analysis of Your Data and Group Data by AEMEE (Aggregated Data), including use in industry publications, submissions to government, in discussion with other businesses. Before being used in this way, we will remove all information that could identify you or Your Business.

Uses and disclosures
(a) We will not use or disclose Your Data, other than in the manner described in this Policy, without your express permission.
(c) Group Data is owned by the relevant AEMEE and will not be used outside AEMEE without permission from the individual members of the Group.
(d) We own any Aggregated Data, and any associated analysis, reproduction and publication.

What is Aggregated Data?
Aggregated Data is AEMEE’s analysis and compilation of aggregated Your Data and Group Data. No individual business data will be disclosed through this analysis, interrogation, and aggregation. When we create Aggregated Data, we remove all information that could identify you or Your Business.

How is the data stored and who has access to it?
The confidentiality of Your Data is important to us. Through the robust management of internal processes and systems, we make all reasonable efforts to protect Your Data and maintain confidentiality.
You may request that we correct, update, or delete Your Data at any time by emailing us, unless there is a sound reason under applicable law to withhold the information, or not make the requested changes. You may request that we edit and correct Your Data held by us if the information is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant, or misleading.

How do you get further information?
For further information on how Your Data is collected, used, or disclosed, please email ceo@aemee.org.au. AEMEE reserves the right to modify this Policy as our organisation requires, and we will notify you of such changes where Your Data will be affected.
