Break Out Sessions                                                                                                                                                                            Rae will share examples of the Pasifika dual language books, and bilingual tasks that are used in PLD workshops within the Pasifika Early Literacy Project and the Pasifika Teacher Aide Project. Participants will work in small groups on communicative task examples that can be used as exemplars for crafting their own bilingual tasks, for use in both English-medium and bilingual teaching contexts.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Donovan has worked on many junior fiction books for reluctant readers, including his international award-winning “Monkey Boy”, as well as co-creating the international hit "Dinosaur Rescue" series. Donovan will talk about how he uses words and pictures in different ways to get young readers into books. Donovan will also give practical examples of how to encourage children's drawing skills to enhance their writing.
