Picket shift signup: Davis
The elected Bargaining Teams of Academic Student Employees, Postdocs, Academic Researchers, and Student Researchers have called for a statewide multi-unit strike beginning Monday, Nov. 14 after 36,558 academic workers voted for strike authorization by a margin of 98%. By striking, Academic Workers will hold UC accountable for its unlawful behavior which is preventing agreement on fair contracts which include living wages to address rent burden, increased childcare subsidies for parent-scholars, sustainable transit benefits, and greater rights for international scholars.

At Davis, Academic Workers on strike can check in for picket shifts at the following location:
  • Hutchison & LaRue
There will be two 4-hour shifts per day: 9am - 1pm and 12pm - 4pm. The more visible the strike is, the more pressure UC will feel and the more power we will have to win fair contracts. So, sign up for as many picket shifts as you can, but at least 5 in order to qualify for strike pay.

Sign up for picket shifts
The more academic workers on the picket line, the stronger our strike will be! So, sign up for as many picket shifts as you can, but at least 5 in order to qualify for strike pay. We are encouraging everyone to sign up to picket both shifts on Nov 14 to ensure a strong day 1 turnout.

There are opportunities for workers with access needs to contribute to the picket line without marching, including helping with check-in, food, phone banking, etc. We encourage everyone who can to come to the picket line in person to contribute to the visibility of our power.

There are remote opportunities for workers who cannot be at the picket line at all, whether due to an access need or because they work in another state/country, etc. Please do not check the picket shift times above if you are requesting remote strike duties.

There are also opportunities for workers with access needs to contribute to the (in-person) picket lines without marching, including helping with check-in, food, phone banking, etc. We encourage everyone who can to come to the picket line in person to contribute to the visibility of our power.
The picket lines will be kid-friendly. I'd like to bring my kids to the picket line, and would like to be connected with other parents doing the same.
