Time to Clean Up Stockport Viaduct
It is time Network Rail finally cleaned up Stockport Viaduct. Stockport Viaduct is a key part of our heritage and one of our town centre's biggest selling points. As our town centre transitions away from retail to be more residential and community focussed, cleaning up the viaduct is now more important than ever.
The state of the viaduct is undermining all the work that is taking place in the town centre. For example, the Mayoral Development Corporation (MDC), which will bring 3,500 new homes to the town centre, has the viaduct at its centre.
If we're to use the MDC to help drive our recovery post-COVID, the viaduct needs to be in the best shape it can be.
We urge Network Rail to finally put a plan in place to get the viaduct cleaned up and to help preserve our town's history.
