Derby City Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence Grant Application
Our grants are typically $100 to $1,000. The Derby City Sisters prefer to give grants to under-funded, small organizations and projects providing direct services to underserved communities. Organizations must be 501(c)(3) tax exempt or under the fiscal sponsorship of another 501(c)(3) organization. The Derby City Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence does not typically provide financial sponsorship to non-501(c)(3) organizations.

All applications will be considered as long as no more than 10% of funding is applied to administration costs.

We are especially attracted to progressive grassroots projects that promote wellness, identity, tolerance and diversity within our communities. We have a vision that encompasses diverse communities and groups that have a common interest in human rights, people of every gender, gender identity, race, class, age and sexual orientation. We favor projects that serve the Louisville Metro and Kentuckiana regions.

Projects must align with our mission statement: "The Derby City Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence exists as a modern order of 21st century nuns dedicated to community service, fund-raising, outreach, advocacy, education for safer sex awareness, and a ministry of presence. We humbly promote human rights and respect for diversity. It is our goal to empower our LGBTQIA family and the Louisville community at large to embrace their unique beauty and to fully realize their self-worth."

We rarely fund groups with budgets over $200,000. Depending on available funds, we may not fund an organization in two consecutive grant cycles.

We do not fund individual travel, research, living, medical or educational expenses, startup costs for businesses, or capital campaigns.

All grants recipients will be required to submit a brief final report with at least one photo documenting your work; these will enable us to promote your work on our community partners page.

In addition to this application, you will be requested to provide 501(c)(3) documentation, or that of your fiscal sponsor. This may include but not be limited to: Your IRS letter of determination stating your/your sponsor's 501(c)(3) status; your/your sponsor's most recent IRS 990 form; a letter from the Commonwealth of Kentucky and/or State of Indiana confirming your nonprofit status in that locale. Projects and/or organization under fiscal sponsorship of another 501(c)(3) must provide details of this arrangement. You will be contacted by a member of our grant committee after submission of this application to provide the requested documentation. We do not release funds without proof of 501(c)(3) status.
