Presented by Sarah Hare
February 11, 2020 2-3 PM EST
The Academic Libraries of Indiana Affordable Learning Committee was formed in 2019 with the goal of building awareness and sharing resources about open educational resources (OER) and other affordable course material solutions. In an effort to support Indiana academic libraries interested in OER, the Committee is hosting a series of webinar-based open chats in spring 2020. The first chat “Addressing Myths and Barriers to Further OER Adoption,” will name and address common misunderstandings instructors may have about OER. The session will provide attendees with talking points and data that proactively address these myths. The web-based session will also discuss barriers instructors face when attempting to adopt OER and responsive services/ resources librarians can provide. Attendees will have an opportunity to discuss their own experiences throughout the open chat.
The session assumes a basic understanding of OER and the high cost of course materials. While some parts of the session may be of interest to special/ public libraries, the content is geared toward an academic library audience. If you are unable to attend but are interested in this topic, please register. The slides will be sent after the session.
