1) I am also a part of the West Washington Park Neighborhood Association, or the Baker Historic Neighborhood Association, do I have to stop being a part of their organization?

Answer: Nope! You are able to be a part of as many organizations as you wish. We are a community
based group and those who live within our boundary are part of this community. Signing up as a
member means you will be notified of the special events and city proposed changes for our street.
Our goal is to bring us closer together through events and outreach.

2) Why was this Registered neighborhood association started?

Answer: Living on an arterial road often creates a divide between neighbors due to the unfriendly
conditions of the streets. We want to help improve that so that we as neighbors can feel safe
walking along our sidewalks without fear of cars. Lincoln has been on the border of two
organizations for many years, but recently it has needed a voice of it’s own. Over the past several
decades, improvement projects have been overlooked in our area and we want to help change that.
We are hoping to improve our streets to become a walkable community, improve safety, and create a
neighborhood that is vibrant and safe for our children and grandchildren to grow up in. Most of all,
we want to get to know our neighbors. Let’s help form a community to create a vision for Lincoln;
The Gateway to the city.

3) What kind of events are you thinking of?

Answer: So far, we are have the following events that we are hoping to accomplish this year:

-Annual Lincoln Community Pumpkin Patch Event (With the Broadway Halloween parade)
-Annual Fall Porch Decorating Contest ( In coordination with Broadway Halloween Festivities)
-Annual “Best Yard on Lincoln Street” Contest
-Annual Lincoln Street Block Party
-Virtual (or in person) Happy hours/ Social nights
-Monthly Book Club
-Monthly History Club
And more! Let us know some ideas.

4) What would a position on the board look like?

Answer: We have a position for most people’s interest. If you are passionate about zoning,
transportation, treasury, social media/ marketing event planning, outreach, or fundraising, then
we have a spot for you. Some positions would require working directly with the city on issues
sent to us. Other positions would allow you to work directly with neighbors to listen and get
feedback regarding proposals that the city sends to us. We have many events planned which
involve looking for sponsors and planning. Being a part of the board is a volunteer position that
will allow you to meet more of your neighbors, get involved and make a difference in our
community. We would be very excited to have you!

When are your meetings?

Answer: We will have a meeting every 3rd Wednesday of the month, whether virtual, or a
combination of virtual and in-person. We really would love for you to join so that you stay up to
date on the latest issues. Please attend to share your thoughts as well. Our annual board
elections meeting will be held in May every year.
