The Scoutmasters of Troop 2 & 7 and the Adult Leader of Crew 2 feel that finances should not prevent a Scout from being able to attend Scouting events. As a result, a Campership (camp scholarship) fund has been established for Scouts of Troop 2, Troop 7, and Venture Crew 2, for Scouts who may need financial assistance.
Eligible Scouting Activities and Fees
Ineligible Activities
Optional High Adventure Activities such as Philmont, Seabase, MOAB, Northern Tier, etc.
Scouting events outside of California or the USA
National or International Jamboree
Non-Troop-sponsored events
Eligibility Requirements
A Scout must have attended at least 70% of Troop meetings and be active in the Troop for the last 12 months. Note: for Scouts who have not been a member of the Troop/Crew for 12 months, active participation will be based on the time since joining.
Each Scout must try to earn as much of their way as possible. Our Troop offers opportunities for Scouts to fundraise to help offset the cost of program activities. To be eligible for a Campership, a Scout must have participated in BOTH Popcorn sales (sell $500 or more worth of popcorn) and Pancake Breakfast tickets (sell 8 or more tickets).
Maximum Campership Amount
Camperships are limited to no more than 80% of the cost for a specific activity or fee. Each Scout should provide a minimum of 20% of the cost for the activity or fee.
Multiple Camperships, up to a maximum of $800 combined, may be awarded in a 12-month period.
Other Methods to Fund Scout Activities
With the agreement of the Scoutmasters and Parents, effort-based Scout Accounts can be used to fund activities that would otherwise be ineligible for Campership assistance.
