The Maine State PTA is now inviting candidates to stand for election at the Maine State PTA Convention in October 2024. We are seeking candidates for the following state leadership positions for the 2024-2027 term:
- President
- Vice President
- Secretary
- Treasurer
We are also looking for candidates to serve on the following committees:
- Reflections
- Bylaw Review
- Convention
- Membership
- Advocacy
Criteria for Consideration:
- Each officer shall be a member of a local PTA or Dirigo PTA chartered by the Maine PTA.
- No officer may be eligible to serve more than 2 consecutive terms in the same office.
- Your completed nomination form must be submitted to Maine State PTA’s Nominating Committee the digital form on or before FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2024 at 11:59 PM EDT/EST.

Outline of Duties:
State Leadership Positions:
President:- Duties: Oversee the overall direction of the PTA, preside over meetings, represent the PTA at state and national events, and lead strategic planning efforts.
Vice President:- Duties: Assist the President, fill in during their absence, oversee specific projects or committees, and support membership growth.
Secretary:- Duties: Maintain accurate records of meetings, manage correspondence, and keep track of PTA documentation and reports.
Treasurer:- Duties: Manage PTA finances, prepare financial reports, oversee budgeting and expenditures, and ensure financial compliance.
Committees:
- Reflections Committee: Organize and manage the Reflections program, oversee submissions, and coordinate judging and awards.
- Bylaw Review Committee: Review and recommend updates to the PTA bylaws, ensure compliance with state and national regulations, and facilitate bylaw amendments.
- Convention Committee: Plan and coordinate the Maine State PTA Convention, manage logistics, and ensure a successful and engaging event.
- Membership Committee: The PTA Membership Committee recruits and welcomes new members, manages membership records, promotes the benefits of joining, organizes membership drives, and supports current members.
- Advocacy Committee: The PTA Advocacy Committee tracks education policies, informs the community, builds relationships with officials, organizes advocacy events, and supports parents and teachers in addressing their concerns.
