Mile Zero Ultimate - Board of Directors Nomination Form
Mile Zero Ultimate is a mixed ultimate frisbee league in St. John's that offers recreational ultimate leagues year-round. At our 2021 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on November 25th at 7:30pm, we are looking for nominations to fill 11 board member positions.

Board members are a key part of shaping and executing the work of Mile Zero Ultimate. They serve a one year term starting in November. The full board meets approximately 6 times per year, and there are a few additional meetings for sub-committees. Due to COVID-19, meetings have been taking place online.

The positions on the board include: President, Vice President League, Vice President Finance, Vice President Spirit, Vice President Communications, and 6 Members at Large. A description of each position can be found in our by-laws here:

Members of the board are encouraged to bring forward ideas to improve the league, and are given the opportunity to bring those ideas to fruition.

The busiest times for the board are the start of different leagues, as these take the most time to plan and organize. November and December are focused on International Spirit of the Game Day, planning for the Winter Hat League, and a Holiday Fundraiser. February is spent planning for the Winter Team League. May and June are spent planning for the Summer League, and August and September are spent wrapping up the Summer League and planning for the two Fall Leagues. Additional meetings are held by subcommittees outside of these busy times to focus on items such as spirit initiatives, diversity and inclusion initiatives, COVID-19 requirements for the league, and any other issues that arise.

We are seeking board members with diverse experiences and skill levels who have a passion for making their ultimate community a better place. Players of all skill levels are welcome to apply, and all kinds of expertise and lived experiences are welcome. Eligible nominees must have played in an MZU league in the past 18 months.

MZU is committed to fulfilling its mission while embracing equity and diversity. We would be particularly interested in nominations of people who are members of designated groups including women, Indigenous persons, persons with disabilities, ethnic minorities, racialized persons/visible minorities, and persons of minority sexual orientation or gender identity (2SLGBTQIA+). We believe these members' experiences must be a part of the work we do and hence strongly encourage nominations from people with these identities.

Individuals can self-nominate by completing the online form below. We also encourage members to nominate a friend or teammate if you think they would be a good fit for the board. We will reach out to them prior to the AGM to see if they are interested in accepting the nomination.

The election of new board members takes place on November 25th at the Quidi Vidi Taproom at 35 Barrows Road. Members vote to elect candidates at the AGM following the introduction of all candidates. If you cannot attend the AGM, and wish to be considered for a position, please fill out the bio section to be read in your place at the AGM.

Contact information collected in this form will only be used to reach you or your nominee before the AGM and otherwise will not be shared or used.

Submit your application by 5pm on November 25th.
