Dancing in Texas will return this spring for an encore performance!
Dancing in Texas shows the evolution of dance in our great state through dances choreographed by Houston Ballet's artistic staff and others. Accompanying the narration, dancers perform both classical and contemporary ballet, including excerpts from the Nutcracker, ballets inspired by traditional folk dances and even a dance in honor of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo!
At the end of each performance, the audience engages in a question and answer session. This allows students to hear first-hand what it is like to be dancer, how they accomplish school while dancing all day, the difference between pointe shoes and ballet slippers, how they change costumes so fast, and other interesting facts.
Dancing in Texas will be performed in the The Margaret Alkek Williams Dance Lab at the Houston Ballet Center for Dance, located at 601 Preston St. Houston, 77002.
Submission of this form will not guarantee attendance at the performance. All requests are handled on a first come-first serve basis, and capacity requirements must be observed (seating capacity is a MAXIMUM of 200 students). You will be instructed to choose your first, second and third choice of the performance you wish to attend. Please choose all that apply.
Transportation is NOT provided by Houston Ballet.
All performance times that are not listed are considered FULL.
