Overview:
This annual event is an opportunity to bring together educators and support services for families and students in need.
The presentation is an opportunity to bring together educators and support services for families and students in need. After surviving two years of a pandemic, today's youth are more vulnerable and overwhelmed with emotions and trauma triggers than ever before. Expected to learn from home independently, teens have also experienced homelessness, isolation, substance abuse, anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues alone. The keynote speaker, Ms. Ashley Cullen-Williams and attendees will explore student stories, lessons and challenges faced while growing and learning in Lake County; deepen their understanding of the impact of adverse childhood experiences, and explore self-care as an anchor for resilience and well being for student engagement and success. Ms. Cullen-Williams will be providing self-care boxes as an opportunity for the helper to receive a resource and refill their coping strategies as they go out to continue to service our communities.
