in partnership with ARCOS Dance and Garden
Fri-Sun June 20-22, 2025, virtual
5 years into the pandemic, 5 years since the 2020 Uprising for Black Lives, the UNtensive marks 5 years of resistance. This year’s UNtensive will meet within the online platform GatherTown, in a beautiful digital playground designed and created by UNtensive partner Garden, a virtual community center for BIPOC folks practicing pandemic safety.
Each day of the UNtensive is broken into two parts:
Embodied Anti-Racisting (11am–1pm CDT): This session takes place in race-based affinity groups: Kai Hazelwood facilitates the BIPOC Circle, a radical creative gathering for purging, dreaming, and care. Sarah Ashkin facilitates the White Working Group, which uses nervous system practice to disrupt our embodied white supremacy.
Open T I M E in the UNtensive World and Community (2–3:30 CDT): Participants are invited to engage with each other and with asynchronous audio, video, and written workshop materials from renowned guest artists who have guided the UNtensive over the last five years, which will be embedded throughout the virtual space.
Optional sessions are offered at the end of each day:
T I M E SHARING with Practice Progress (3:30–4pm CDT, 3:30-4:30pm CDT on June 22): Kai and Sarah facilitate participants gathering to reflect on a guiding question: what are you discovering about time, self, community, embodied anti-oppression practice?
