Jan Brett Fall 2017 National Tour Call for Proposals - "THE MERMAID"
I am Jan Brett’s publicist. Each year Penguin (Jan Brett’s publisher) sends her on a national bus tour to meet fans. We always love discovering new places to go and visiting old friends.

Jan will travel across the country to 23 markets from November 24th to December 10th. Please fill-out the FORM BELOW by June 15th if you would like to propose/ host an event.

1) OPEN TO THE PUBLIC - all events must be open to the public (unfortunately, we cannot accommodate private visits to schools). Last year schools that wished to host Jan, partnered with their local public library to submit a proposal.
2) GUARANTEED ATTENDANCE - Events usually attract between 300 and 500 people (and sometimes more). Please indicate the number of people that you guarantee for the event.
3) BOOKSTORE PARTNERSHIP - organizations must partner with a designated local bookstore for robust sales of "The Mermaid" and Jan Brett’s other titles.

Please feel free to be as creative as possible! "The Mermaid" is an underwater version of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" starring a mermaid and three octopuses! Inspired by the Okinawan culture and its magnificent warm aquatic paradise (a departure from Brett's snowy winter books), this is perhaps Brett's best art to date. Jan was inspired by a research trip to Okinawa, Japan and a "tentacles-on" visit with Sy the Giant Pacific Octopus at the New England Aquarium.

Due to the number of requests, only organizations under further consideration will be contacted by July 14th. Thank you in advance for all of your wonderful ideas!
All my best,
