Activist experiences of repression and state violence
CounterAct has been trying to make the case to broader civil society and resourced organisations of the need to #ProtectProtest and support civil resistance - human stories and first hand accounts can help - we got feedback that it was helpful to hear these at a recent webinar presentation to NGO's.

Its a last ditch effort before we close this December! Please don't re-traumatise yourself - and keep it very simple. If its useful to you "vent" and write more - that's absolutely fine, but bear in mind we may need to just pick sections to edit for clarity, and collate.

Write in the first person about what you feel about the situation, or how its impacted you physically, mentally, emotionally.

This is genuinely anonymous, unless you prefer otherwise. It may be used in a brief report, presentation or other public context.

We definitely recommend against google forms and the over-reliance of google by activists, as its gathering data for the government in an easily obtainable form - the level of repression is increasing, which should require a change in security practices in our opinion, but this is designed to gather information that may be publicly shared - and not linked to names unless you would like that (its welcome, but not necessary)

SHARE YOUR STORY
First hand voice, brief is best. You can refer to a single instance of police interaction or a series of events. All of our stories matter - whether it seems like a major issue for others or not.

We know many activists who have experienced assault, verbal abuse, unlawful actions from police, raids, and jail - as well as issues with contractors or government agencies, surveillance, through to discriminatory sentencing and magistrate remarks.
