Athletes who are between ages 6-8 may train with sport team. Once they are 8, they may compete in regional and state events.
Athletes may choose only 1 option per season! Once you are registered, you will maintain on the roster every year until you do not compete for 2 consecutive years or until you register for a different sport. When Special Olympics receives your registration information, you will be contacted by a coach with information about your sport approximately 2 weeks before practice.
If you have any questions regarding registration, please feel free to contact Kerry Simmons at 734-755-4790 or email email@example.com.
As always, keep in mind that when you sign up for a sport and are registered to attend a state competition, Area 34 is charged a fee. If you decide to quit or not attend the state competition, Area 34 is still charged. Athletes who do this are subject to suspension from further state competitions. In order to select which athletes will be eligible for state competition, each coach will be given a SELECTION CRITERIA SHEET. This sheet will list the necessary criteria that an athlete must follow in order to be selected. Also, please note, each athlete will be responsible for signing an ATHLETE CODE OF CONDUCT upon beginning training for their selected sport. Finally, remember that you are responsible for arranging your own transportation to and from practices, and that it is mandatory for athletes to be picked up on time from events. Failure to do so may result in being suspended or dismissed from Area 34 Special Olympics. Visit our website, www.somi.org/area34 for more information!!! Visit us on Facebook www.facebook.com/Monroe34
