ISPA-YCAPS Young Mariner Program - interest roster
Below please find the flyer and information on this unique opportunity to sail a historic three-masted topsail schooner in the protected waters of the Seto Inland Sea with a mixed crew of American and Japanese students (including 3rd party nationals residing in Japan) aged 15-25. The voyage will be under the supervision of a professional crew and sail training will be conducted by instructors certified through the International Sail and Power Association (ISPA). During the voyage, mentoring will be provided on leadership development and cross-cultural communication. By setting sail, young mariners will gain unique perspective on the friendship between our nations and a once-in-a-lifetime chance to appreciate the leadership skills inherent in each of us, and develop them further by assuming responsibility during rotating watch team leadership.

Please read through the flyer, and if you are interested complete the forms below so we can build a roster. We are currently submitting grant applications for funding. It is possible the entire cost may be covered (approx. $1500 total for the sailing program and transport to and from the ports), or only a portion. Please fill out the interest roster regardless of the funding question - you will note that we provide an opportunity for you to express interest based on funding availability.

Thank you for your time and support
