EXTENSION: This application is still open for our STRING ORCHESTRA CLASS ONLY. Complete now before it closes!
Incoming sixth graders (current fifth graders) can choose from 2 instrumental music elective options: Concert Band or String Orchestra. Concert Band is a class for sixth graders who would like to play a woodwind or brass instrument: flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, trumpet, french horn, trombone, or tuba. Concert orchestra is a class for sixth graders who will play the stringed instruments: violin, viola, cello, or upright bass. Sorry, we do not offer percussion (for new students), guitar, or piano classes. If your child would like to join either of the two electives, please complete this application. Otherwise, your child will automatically be placed on the elective wheel. Sixth graders may only be enrolled in either concert band or string orchestra, regardless of whether they have prior musical experience or not. Please keep in mind that percussion is not open to sixth graders next year but will be later be an option in their second year of playing.
Our program is very active throughout the school year, and we have at least two evening concerts per semester. This is an elective that requires daily practice on your instrument (minimum 30 minutes of practice at home a day), and at times, after school practice is needed.
DEADLINE FOR CURRENT FIFTH GRADERS TO SIGN UP IS APRIL 15, 2018 BEFORE MIDNIGHT.
