2019 Island Batik Brand Ambassador applications are officially open! Applications will be accepted until December 7, 2018. The 2019 Brand Ambassador year will begin in January 2019 and run through the following January, or slightly longer as the schedule dictates. Accepted applicants will be notified via email in December 2018.
WHAT IS A BRAND AMBASSADOR? A Brand Ambassador is excited about our batik and wants to tell everyone about it! Our Brand Ambassador team’s primary focus is promoting Island Batik products with their online following through monthly events, blog hops, and more. Sample fabric is given to you by Island Batik for use in all program related events. You will receive two large shipments during the program, packed full of fabric and other surprises that you won't be able to wait to share! We require a minimal amount of sample sewing for rep samples that travel with our sales team and showcase our fabrics for quilt shop buyers. Brand Ambassadors are not sales representatives and do not fill any role relating to in-person appearances in local quilt shops and other quilting events.
ARE YOU A GOOD FIT FOR OUR BRAND AMBASSADOR TEAM? As quilters and sewists, our Brand Ambassador team loves working with Island Batik fabric! Brand Ambassadors must have a strong social media presence where they talk about their fabric, sewing, and quilting experiences. A Brand Ambassador must have a blog where she or he posts weekly (or more) and active social media outlets (posts daily on various platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.). Ideal candidates are more than hobbyists and are actively working towards building their personal brands as bloggers in the quilting space, quilt designers, or in other industry-related roles.
WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU? Through our monthly challenges and events, you’ll be pushed out of your creative comfort zone and you’ll grow as a quilter! While you’re enthusing about our Island Batik fabric, we are promoting you and your brand through social media sharing. We provide connections to magazine publications for those who are seeking to have their work published. We also have opportunities for pattern designers interested in submitting their patterns for possible inclusion in our catalog and for distribution through Island Batik. You will have the opportunity to make professional connections that may help you to achieve your quilty goals, and make some friends along the way!
WHAT KIND OF A TIME COMMITMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS PROGRAM? The base of the program is a schedule of monthly events, most of which require you to make one, typically small project, blog about it, and share it on your social media platforms. We have two scheduled blog hops a year that require larger projects and posting on a specific date and are centered on a theme, but the rest of our events are fairly flexible. We do also ask for two to four small rep samples (finished size about the size of a Fat Quarter) from each Ambassador each year; fabric and postage is provided. There are minimal “housekeeping” requirements like checking your email and sharing information throughout the program.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED? In addition to your responses to the application questions, you will be scored on the content of your blog and social media pages (is it focused and well-written?), your post frequency, and the photography and other images you use.
