In Spring 2025, Media Decoded Ambassadors will visit classrooms throughout San Joaquin County to give hour-long presentations on media and information literacy.
The sessions will generally done in two parts:
- Listen + Learn: A 35-minute media literacy presentation where we talk about the process and why media literacy is important.
- Decide + Do: A 25-minute hands-on activity that looks at the “how” of media careers and focuses on getting students to understand the types of media careers out there and how they can train for those careers. This involves hands-on demonstrations.
Presentations will be tailored to the audience age and education level. There will be a five-minute movement break in between sections. At the end, students can opt to sign media literacy pledge cards to be on display at Danner Hall in a display on the San Joaquin Delta College campus (or the classroom teacher will be provided a poster where students can display their pledges in the classroom).
Ambassador visits will be conducted March through early June. For more information, email tara.cuslidge-staiano@deltacollege.edu. This interest form serves as an initial contact point. Details about dates and times for visits will be discussed.
Please note that we may not be able to visit in every requested classroom due to scheduling conflicts in our Delta College student group.
