I would love to do a Summer Book club with the book mentioned above, "Half a Chance" by Cynthia Lord. I created a reading schedule for Monday through Friday. It looks like it would take 14 days to read this book. We could meet online through Zoom on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the 3 weeks. Zoom meetings would not last more than 40 minutes. You would not have to come to all the Zoom meetings to join this book club, it is just a time for us to talk about the book. We will also be able to communicate through online formats. There will be some Flipgrid or Padlet activities to go along with the book. I will set the Flipgrids so the videos will be shared and I will allow students to comment on each others videos for discussion. We will be respectful when commenting in our discussions. The Book club would start on June 15 which takes us to July 2.
I am going to set everything up on a page in the Specials HBEC website that was used for online learning. You will need to sign up for this so I know how to contact you if something changes, this form will be used as the signup for the book club. Families would have to purchase the book on their own. I found it on Amazon and Barnes and Nobel for under $8.00.

It is recommended for 8+ year old. The reading level per our catalog system is 4th grade but I feel that is high. The vocabulary is simple and I feel it is an easy read or you can do this as a family read aloud.
