In order to pull off this event with the kind of care, depth, and thoughtfulness it deserves, it will truly take a village! Do you want to be part of that village?
Read here about the various ways you might choose to be involved in this actifest and then check below any role you're interested in volunteering for. If you have any questions at all, please reach out to Rabbi Nate DeGroot at ndegroot@theshalomcenter.org.
Also, feel free to share this form with anyone you think might be interested in getting more involved. The more the merrier.
We're so grateful to get to create this holy space together!
General volunteers - Want to be put to work in the Tent during the actifest itself? Tasks for this group might include greeting attendees, supporting activities, or more. Requirements for this role: a helping attitude.
Spiritual care team - Are you a therapist, grief counselor, clergy, or pastoral presence who wants to be supportive to Tent of Mourning attendees? Given the nature of the topic and the poignancy of grief and mourning, folks on this team will be available to Tent attendees to offer spiritual care and a listening ear if and as big emotions come up.
De-escalation team - Are you trained in protest de-escalation? Are you a protest chaplain or pastoral presence who wants to learn more about this role? Folks on this team will help ensure that those in the Tent remain safe while engaging any kind of disruptors.
Press/publicity volunteers - Do you have experience getting press coverage for local or national events? Do you feel comfortable reaching out to local media to encourage them to chronicle this actifest? This group is for you.
Photographer/videographer - Are you a professional/trained photographer or videographer who would want to volunteer your services to document this actifest? We'd love to have you capture the essence of this gathering so we can share it broadly.
