About the lecturer:
Ariel Bronz is an independent artist, theater director, performance artist, playwright, poet, actor, acting and performance teacher and the house director of 'Clipa Company', born in Odessa 1984, based in Tel-Aviv. His wide work span quickly gained him wide public and critical acclaim, and made him probably the most controversial artists in Israel today. His plays have been presented and awarded in various theatres around the world.
Bronz is the winner of Rosenblum prize 2018, for being an exceptional artist in Israeli theatre Scene.
In his work, Bronz tackles complex political topics and issues which tend to be repressed in society. His targets of criticism vary from the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands, to its inevitable results: the militarism, violence, conservatism, and racism. He exploits elements from pop culture, trash and mainstream media, with classic to make his harsh message possible to swallow. Abounding with images, symbols, taboos and cliches, his art creates a synthesis between reality as an absurd scenario and fabrication as possible and even probable scenario.
Bronz’s works are characterized with a constant examination of boundaries: he gleefully crosses the boundaries of good taste and uses provocations to shake the audience out of its apathy. All his projects oppose the politically correct and clash with social prohibitions.
