Grand Meadow Neighborhood Park is a 9.93 acre undeveloped city park at 8022 Thaxton Rd. We have an opportunity as a community to plan out our vision for it! We, as the park adopter group are seeking grants for the vision process where we'll have meetings with our community and urban planners and create a plan for the whole park. Until then we are organizing and getting input from neighbors about how we'd like to use the park.
We have opportunities to use the park for play, exercise, food, and even disaster relief planning! In addition to regular park features like a trail around the park, a pavilion, and a play area we can build a community garden and a public food forest. A food forest area would be a part of a trail that has fruit trees, medicinal plants, and other beautiful plants that are also useful to people and pollinators and all other levels of our ecosystem. And our park community can grow outside of the park creating a volunteer group to help neighbors build gardens at home!
