Our Mission is "Empowering Voters. Defending Democracy." Because participation is key to this mission, the League has adopted a "pay what you can" dues model that allows anyone to join for as little as $20. And since LWVAA believes that finances should never be a barrier to League membership, we offer membership grants up to funding available. To apply for a membership grant, complete the following form:

As a member, how will you demonstrate active participation? *

If you are approved to receive a grant, you will be asked to volunteer with the League for a minimum of one year. From the list below, please select ONE interest area where you can serve. *

VOTER ENGAGEMENT: Engage potential voters where they work, live, learn, and play and assist them in taking the first step to become lifelong voters. A VDR certification is required for some roles.

VOTER EDUCATION: The League provides Austin Area residents with nonpartisan information so they can learn how to register to vote; about the candidates and issues on their ballot; the various ways to vote and what is needed to vote; about elected offices and what they do; and how to engage with local leadership.

ADVOCACY PROGRAMS: Research and develop issue positions; advocate on behalf of those positions; observe local governmental activities; and prepare programs and events to educate and engage members and the general public.

FUNDRAISING & EVENTS: Assist with fundraising activities and donor development which includes the League's annual Defending Democracy dinner.

LEAGUE ADMINISTRATION: Support League administration through communications, technology, and other leadership opportunities.
