The application window opens July 1 and closes on August 15, 2025 at 5 pm. The application must be submitted through Google Forms to be considered. Awards will be granted on a first-come basis. The South Dakota State Legislature appropriated $500,000 to provide student teacher stipend grants to school districts and department-accredited schools. Grants are limited to $5,000 per school district or department-accredited school and may be used to provide stipends to one or more student teacher placed during the applicable school year. Reimbursement for the student teacher stipend will be contingent on the student teacher holding either the Student Teacher Permit OR Advanced Student Teacher permit.
We, the school district or accredited school, understand that:- This application must be received by 5:00 PM (CT) August 15, 2025, to be eligible for SY 2025-2026.
- By submitting this application, we anticipate hosting one or more student teachers during SY 2025-2026 for any of the following experiences: year-long, fall semester, or spring semester.
- If awarded for this stipend grant, proof of payment to the qualifying student teacher(s), an invoice, and the Student Teacher Stipend Reimbursement Form, identifying student teachers and their permit numbers, must be submitted to be eligible for reimbursement.
- In cases with more than one qualified student teacher, local control will determine how this funding will be dispersed among student teachers holding a permit.
- The maximum amount that can be received by the school district or accredited school is $5,000 regardless of the number of student teachers hosted during this time period.
