2020-2021 MHS PTSA Interest Form
Hello, Millbrook Magnet HS families! :) We are in the process of recruiting the 2020-2021 PTSA Board and Committees.
Our PTSA will work to enrich the lives of students by encouraging collaboration and community and by promoting student health, well-being, and educational success through its programs. We value and seek diverse input from all our school families and members of the community.
Please consider how your skills, interests, and experience could help make our school a better place for our children, and fill out the form below. Your information will be added to a contact database to be used by the PTSA Nominations Committee and Principal King.
I am the parent or guardian of a student(s) who will attend MHS for the 2020-2021 school year in one or more of the following grades or capacities (check all that apply)
I am/will be a MHS faculty or staff member.
I would consider serving on the PTSA Board during the 2020-2021 year in the following capacities (check all that apply - you are not making a commitment at this time):
Our PTSA Board consists of the Elected officers (President, VP, Secretary, Treasurer) our Principal, the chairs of Audit, Advocacy and Nominations as well as At-Large appointed members. Full By-Laws can be seen here -
. The Board will meet a couple of times over the summer to plan, and we try to meet monthly over the early part of the school year, and around every 6 weeks once January hits! Important to note - NO officer roles are shared. There are no Co-Presidents or Co-Treasurers, etc. One person, one vote only per by-laws.
President - Leads our PTSA. First point of contact for almost everything, doesn't mind delegation, able to influence and build consensus, has vision for continuous growth and improvement for our students and staff.
Vice President (there may be several, but we need at least one!) - VP's jump into PTSA in a wide variety of ways. This role has a lot of flexibility - if you are curious, let us know!
Secretary - Responsible for maintaining the PTSA binder for the year that is a complete archive of what happened. All agenda's and minutes, budget and amendments, monthly reports, adjustments to standing rules, etc.
Treasurer - Responsible for maintaining PTSA finances. Single point for data entry into accounting software, ensures compliance with required IRS submissions, makes sure dues are paid and provides monthly reports at PTSA meetings on the state of PTSA finances.
At-Large Member - this is a great role for parents still wanting to help after their kids have graduated! It allows our PTSA to keep all the great historical knowledge in a role that offers a lot more flexibility.
Advocacy Committee Chair - works closely with school counselors, social worker and psychologist on programs to support the holistic student.
Audit Committee Chair - leads financial reviews over the course of the school year and the final year end audit.
Nomination Committee Chair - facilitates the recruitment and presentation of 2021-2022 Slate of Officers.
I need more information
I would consider volunteering for the MHS PTSA in the following ways (check all that apply):
Communications Team (Weekly news updates to families via a couple of channels, website updates (weebly) and keeping calendar(s) up to date!!)
Membership (Responsible for all membership activities - attend open house/parent events, manage all documentation, take care of Memberhub membership and make sure Treasurer receives payment info as described in NCPTA bylaws)
Hospitality Team (Faculty Luncheons, Welcome back events, etc - volunteering, helping with food, setup/cleanup)
Fundraising Team (Support our fundraising activities, help with Friends and Family Night, available to count money, etc)
Volunteer Team (manage our signup genius, report on gaps/needs and keep us aware of volunteerism!)
Audit Committee (serve on team that meets approx. every other month to review and ensure financial integrity is maintained)
Nominations Committee (serve on committee responsible for recruiting PTSA leadership for the next school year. Works closely with membership.)
Advocacy Committee (Investigate or create awareness/programs for our school community focused on advocacy for students, teachers or parents)
Other Events... (Summer academic boot camps, Senior Kickoff, PAWS, Character Ed, Honor Roll Breakfasts, Staff/Bus/Cafe/Custodian Appreciation)
Please share any questions, comments, or suggestions you may have for our school and PTSA. Thank you! :)
Send me a copy of my responses.
