Housing Co-op Survey

The Urban Homesteading Assistance Board (UHAB) is conducting a survey of shared-equity housing cooperatives to find out more about this important model of affordable housing. The term shared-equity encompasses limited-equity co-ops, zero-equity co-ops and other variations of the co-op model that emphasize long-term affordability.

The aim of this research is to understand:

How co-ops were created?

How co-ops are sustained?

How co-ops remain affordable?

Uncovering and sharing this information among co-ops and co-op practitioners will be indispensable as we all look for ways to continue serving and growing our co-op communities.

Across the country, hundreds of thousands of units of cooperative housing provide a significant means of affordable home-ownership. The hard work and dedication of shareholders, board members and managers like you make this model of housing possible now and into the future.

Thank you for sharing this helpful information about your co-op! Responses are confidential.
