Each NJ Jr. Thespian State Board Member brings something unique and special to the table.
Collaboration. Education. Passion.
The board is responsible for planning and executing the NJ Jr. Thespian Festivals,
giving advice on chartering troupes, and advocating for middle school theatre.
Our core values are providing an educational space for students to learn and celebrate theatre.
Board Members volunteer their time and energy throughout the year to plan the Jr. Thespian Festival.
Professional Development Credits are given to each board member at the end of the school year based on attendance at meetings and completion of Individual Board Duties.

We meet one Saturday each in the Fall, Winter, and Spring for a one-day planning meeting at Toms River High School North. Additional meetings may be held virtually online via Zoom (a free meeting conference program), based on the availability of the current board. All in-person meetings are held at Toms River High School North in the afternoon, typically from 12 PM. Do you think you will be able to attend these meetings?

Member at Large- Assisting with any task that needs to be done. Sitting in at all meetings and stepping into help when is needed. Must have a positive attitude with an ability to be flexible and adapt to change.
Showcase Manager- Managing Festival Showcase, Working with Tech Students and reviewing Showcase Guide. Must have prior Directing or Stage Management experience.
Grant Writer: Researching possible grants and applying for grants for NJ Junior Thespians. Must have previous grant writing experience.
Blog Manager- Managing blog and sending monthly blog email blast via Mail Chimp. Must have good graphic design skills and proofreading skills.
Workshop Assistant-Assisting Workshop Coordinator to find prospective workshop leaders. Must have experience using Google Sheets.
Chartering Advisor- Being the point person for answering questions about troupe membership, and advocating for having a Junior Thespian troupe. Must currently have an activated Junior Thespian Troupe.
Secretary- Taking notes at each meeting and typing up meeting minutes. Responsible for printing meeting minutes for each meeting. Must have excellent note taking skills.
