CPM Symposium Scholarship Application Form
At NACPM, we understand the importance of having a representative midwifery workforce and are wholly committed to creating a professional culture that promotes equity and inclusion. We recognize that underrepresentation by midwives of color, native and indigenous midwives, and LGBTQ2S midwives has had a profoundly limiting impact on who chooses and has access to midwifery care. We are committed to building and supporting a racially, ethnically, and culturally diverse workforce and providing opportunities for voices to be heard so we can better understand and be responsive to the needs of all childbearing people.

In service of these commitments, we are offering both full and partial scholarships to the 2018 CPM Symposium to individuals in our community who might otherwise be unable to attend due to financial hardship. Realizing the need may well exceed current capacity, we will continue to seek additional sources of funding to support even greater participation. Full scholarships include: registration fee, lodging, all meals, and transportation to and from the Symposium. Please indicate on your application whether you are applying for a full scholarship or only a partial-scholarship. If you can cover your own travel expenses, it will allow us to make more scholarships available.

Eligibility: The Symposium scholarships are reserved for midwives, students, consumers, allied professionals and advocates of midwifery who identify as people of color, native, indigenous, and/or LGBTQ2S who can demonstrate how attending the symposium will strengthen their ability to serve childbearing people in their communities.

How to apply: All eligible individuals should complete this form with a short essay (no more than 500 words) describing your interest in the Symposium, the specific knowledge you hope to gain as a participant, the perspectives you hope to share, and how your attendance will help childbearing people in the communities and settings you serve or plan to serve. Your application should highlight the ways you have become or are becoming a leader in the field.

NOTE: It is important that you read through the Symposium website carefully to understand the purpose of this event and how it is different from most conferences! Website: www.cpmsymposium.com

The deadline for scholarship applications is: Wednesday, April 11, 2018. All applications will be acknowledged and reviewed by a panel of NACPM leaders and members of the Symposium’s convening and consulting partner organizations. Scholarship recipients will be notified by Wednesday, April 18th.
