Compassion Scholars 2025 Mentor Application
The Compassion Scholars program is a state-run service learning initiative that seeks to cultivate compassionate leadership in young Washingtonians as part of our state's larger commitment to bridge the gap between student accessibility and student achievement for Washington's marginalized students. The Compassion Scholars program achieves this by implementing the principles of service learning, mentorship, and experiential travel.

In applying for this program, applicants should understand that the Compassion Scholars program is a year-long commitment.

Program participants will embark on an international service learning excursion, after which scholars and mentors will collaborate closely to bring their newfound skills and insights to life by starting service projects in their own communities.

Throughout the remainder of the year, the scholars and their mentors will schedule monthly one-on-one zoom meetings to facilitate the implementation of their service projects. In addition to these meetings, the cohort will meet as a group quarterly to share updates and provide insights on their projects. At the end of the year, the cohort will present their project at the WSLB Welcome Day celebration.

The fellowship is administered at no cost to mentors, students, and their families.

The Compassion Scholars program is a program focused on developing compassionate leaders through a service-learning trip, mentorship, and leadership development sessions that will inform and assist our students in the design and implementation of a community project. The mentors are a vital piece to this program and appreciate you taking the time to fill out this application.
