Peer Health Advocate- Intern Application

San Ysidro Health (SYH) is seeking participants from Sweetwater Union High School District to intern for the Teen Clinic Peer Health Advocacy (TCPHA) program. The TCPHA program is looking for 15-20 friendly and enthusiastic teens entering 10th-12th grade in the 2019-20 school year. This is a public health internship and does not offer any clinical experience, however participants work closely with Teen Clinic. Students who are interested in learning and presenting about various health topics, conducting workshops, utilizing social media to teach their peers, and acting as a resource to their friends are strongly encouraged to apply. Selected participants will receive a small stipend upon completion of the year long PHA program. This program focuses on Health Advocacy and Social Justice and has two tracks: Social Media and Health Education. Participants will have the opportunity to complete both tracks. This program requires participants to learn about and often present on sensitive topics related to sexual and reproductive health. We ask that participants are open-minded and comfortable discussing these subjects.
