Tour de Tonka is an annual bicycle ride through Lake Minnetonka communities for cyclists of all ages.  The event promotes and celebrates healthy lifestyles, friendship, teamwork and recreation. Organized through Minnetonka Community Education, Tour de Tonka collaborates with dozens of cities, businesses, organizations and hundreds of volunteers to create this unique event.

There are scenic routes ranging from 16 to 100 miles, with several rest stops along the way.  In previous years, 3,500 riders have participated in Tour de Tonka, ranging in age from 5 to 84 and represented over 166 communities.

Rest Stop hosts are businesses and organizations who provide the enthusiastic and helpful volunteers to staff the rest stop. Minnetonka Community Education provides everything else, including t-shirts for the volunteers, food, supplies, bike mechanics and even live music!

Under the direction of a Rest Stop Coordinator, you and your team of volunteers will be responsible for preparing and serving easy to grab food and beverages, cheering and directing riders so that they can safely enter and exit the stop.

As a rest stop host, you may advertise your organization at the rest stop by displaying banners or posters. You also may provide a coupon, give-away, or informational piece to be included in our virtual rider bags.

8-10 people to volunteer as rest stop hosts for 4 hours shifts. Volunteers should be 14 years of age or older, and each youth should be accompanied by an adult. Volunteers can be co-workers or friends - anyone you know who will be an enthusiastic ambassador for your organization and ours.
