4th Annual Yerkes Teacher Book Club
WHEN: Saturday, February 10th, 9:30–3:30

WHERE: Yerkes Observatory, 373 W Geneva St., Williams Bay, WI, 53191

COST: $40

DESCRIPTION:

This year, our Teacher Book Club selection is "Making Contact" by Sarah Scoles. Ms. Scoles, a former Yerkes Educational Outreach partner has written a fascinating new book about Jill Tartar, a former researcher at the SETI Institute (Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence) and inspiration for the character Ellie Arroway in the 1995 movie Contact. Jill's search for the answer to the elusive question, 'are we alone', has motivated her entire career and Ms. Scoles takes us on a journey of science and philosophy at the heart of it all. Join us for a discussion with the author and learn more about SETI.
