Souls Shot Portrait Project
Souls Shot Portrait Project randomly pairs artists with family or friends of victims of gun violence. The artists create portraits based on their interactions with the family/friend who provide photos, mementos, videos, and stories about their loved ones. The resulting portraits created by the artists form an exhibition. The artworks are, for the most part, two-dimensional works that require wall space. We provide the hanging hardware necessary for installation. We will provide pedestals for 3D works and any other special accommodations for artworks. Typically an exhibition is about 30 portraits.
Souls Shot Portrait Project will deliver and install the exhibitions. We will de-install at the end of the agreed upon time. We provide all labeling and will provide designs for flyers and promotional materials. The host venue will provide storage for the packing materials used in the transportation of the portraits.
Souls Shot Portrait Project will provide a checklist of all portraits along with the value of each artwork.
The exhibition should be open to the public during regular hours or by appointment. The exhibition will always be free of charge to view.
Any receptions and/or programming will be planned by the host venue with the aid of Souls Shot Portrait Project. We can provide speakers, docents, and collaborate on the plans. The host may not contact our participants directly regarding speaking at events. We will facilitate any such requests. Any programming should also be free and open to the public.
Before a final agreement can be reached, someone from the Souls Shot Portrait Project must visit the site to determine suitability of the space.
There is no set fee to host an exhibition however the average cost of each installation is $1500. We request that the host venue contribute some or all of that amount. Thank you!
We are grateful for your interest!
