Becoming a volunteer Builder is a great opportunity for you to receive training in how to be a good supporter for other young people! We know that young people are best equipped to help other young people because of your shared experiences. As a Builder, you can pair these experiences with skills in listening, empathy, and support giving, as well as looking after yourself.
WHAT IS A COMMUNITY BUILDER?A Builder is a member of the ReachOut.com community who has put their hand up to use their experiences of being a young person to take their support to the next level. They're trained in the art of Peer Support and help us to make our community the best place it can be. To read more about the program, check out the Position Description here https://docs.google.com/document/d/14OiP78mzc5F8vRnNiwSBzyTt8_HGfrx9EzfKIQyfpCQ/edit?usp=sharing!
WHAT TO EXPECT?:Applicants accepted into the Builder Program will be asked to complete Builder training online with ReachOut and participate 2 hours a week as a Builder on the ReachOut Youth Forums. If you can’t do two hours, that’s okay- just speak to our Online Community Coordinators so we can agree on a plan that suits your time commitments.
HOW DO I REGISTER?Anyone in Australia within the ages of 16-25 can apply to become a Builder. Fill in this form to register your interest in helping out on the ReachOut Youth forums. We will be in contact during our next round of intakes to let you know if your application is successful, then we'll train you up as a Builder.
