Developing the Oral and Dental Research Workforce
This survey has been developed by the NIHR Clinical Research Network (NIHR CRN) Oral and Dental Health Specialty Group supported by the Chief Dental Officers of the four UK home nations, the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners, the Dental Schools Council and the British Society for Oral and Dental Research. The survey aims to identify Dentists and Dental Care Professionals interested in taking part in research and to describe practice characteristics and readiness to take part.
This work follows on from a groundbreaking 18 month collaboration between the NIHR Clinical Research Network Oral and Dental Health Specialty Group, the Dental Schools Council and Public Health England to identify the top 10 unanswered questions relating to oral and dental health research from a patient, public and clinical perspective. Engagement with research funding bodies about funding research within the identified priorities has already begun.
The next step in this process is to understand the workforce currently available to develop and deliver oral and dental health research and how to strengthen this which is why we have developed this survey.
