Bendigo Theatre Company began as Bendigo Operatic Society in 1953. The first performance was “A chocolate soldier”. Sixty five productions later, in 1980, the company name was changed to Bendigo Theatre Company.
Our mission is “to instil a love of live theatre amongst our members, the public of Bendigo and surrounding districts, by the presentation of theatrical performances of a worthwhile nature.”
We are an entirely volunteer-run, not for profit, community enterprise led by a committee of management.
Each year Bendigo Theatre Company stages a musical, a drama and several smaller shows.
Our home at the Arts Shed in Allingham Street doubles as a rehearsal and performance venue with a 62 seat black box theatre.
BTC has an extensive wardrobe, set and props inventory which are available to hire at very reasonable rates.
Over sixty years since its inception, Bendigo Theatre Company is firmly entrenched in the Arts culture in Bendigo. We continue to welcome new members, train and foster young talent both on-and backstage.
We encourage and invite new members.
