ATHE 2020 Pre-Conference Proposal
Pre-Conference Events are planned by Focus Groups, singly or in collaboration. These events occur in a variety of formats in the days leading up to the conference, ranging from half-day to multiple-day time frames, at the official conference hotel, or offsite at another venue.
ATHE is often able to provide space to Focus Groups for Pre-Conference Events in the conference hotel, starting the Tuesday before concurrent sessions begin on Wednesday. Even if you do not plan to use a space at the ATHE conference hotel, please submit an application for your Pre-Conference Event on this form by November 1, 2019.
A Pre-Conference Proposal is not ranked by Focus Groups alongside proposals for the conference itself. Instead, ATHE staff members: A) contact leadership of the Focus Group(s) listed to make sure that they are aware of the proposal; B) make record of the details of the proposal for conference programs; and C) share proposals with the VP for Conference who oversees ATHE Pre-Conference Grants.
You do not need to have all details (individual session presenters, exact schedule) of your event determined in order to make a proposal by November 1. However some information is required to process your request.
Please note: in order to maximize the number of sessions we offer during the 2020 ATHE Conference, concurrent sessions will begin on Wednesday, July 29, and run through midday Sunday, August 2, 2020. (The Keynote Events will take place on the evening of Thursday, July 30, 2020.) Focus Groups may propose Pre-Conference Events beginning Tuesday and running through Wednesday and/or early Thursday pending on available meeting rooms at the Conference Hotel. However, concurrent sessions may occur at the same time on Wednesday and Thursday. ATHE staff members will work with the organizers of Pre-Conference Events to determine schedule in order maximize presenting opportunities while minimizing conflicts that might impact attendance at Pre-Conference Events.
