Come prepare for the State Tournament with IAC Owner and Head Instructor Matthew Schladweiler.
Playing in tournaments requires more than just knowing basic tactics and openings. Players need to know how to handle positions where they are down or up material. They need to know how to close out won games or put up the most resistance in games where they are losing. Many players just give up once they are down material.
A friend of mine used to always say that the hardest part of a game of chess is winning a won position.
The main focus of this camp is to give players a positive and aggressively focused mindset going into the tournament. Defensive and reactive chess does not win games.
Each player will receive a handout with all games and additional materials to help them prepare for the State Tournament on March 18th and 19th. Materials for this camp will be aimed towards concepts and reinforcing fundamentals to ensure that players can use their time effectively on Friday to prepare and gain the max benefit from the class.
