Procedure

The current membership is the best evaluator and nominator of new Fraternity members. Nominations are due to the President of the Chapter by December 1st of each year. All nominees will then be presented to the Chapter Membership in the ‘meetings notice’ for their review. If any chapter member has a valid reason why a nominee should not be considered for membership it is their responsibility to communicate it to the President and/or Executive Secretary at a deadline to be listed in the ‘meetings notice’.

Election to Chapter Membership

To be elected to membership, an active member in good standing, who shall be held responsible for the prospective member, providing he/she is accepted for membership n the Fraternity, must sponsor a prospective member. In the event that a member should be expelled from the Fraternity, it shall be the duty of the sponsoring member to inform said member of his/her expulsion.

Requirements for Nomination

1. The candidate must NOT know he/she is being sponsored and considered for membership in the Fraternity.
2. The candidate must have at least 5 years or more of teaching as a school band director possessing a valid teaching certificate, or the equivalent, and holding membership in a State Band Directors’ Association or Music Educators Association recognized by the Fraternity.
3. The candidate must show evidence of leadership contribution to the progress of the band profession as having held offices or important responsibility at State or Regional level, publications, compositions, dissertations, performance, etc…
4. The candidate’s character must be morally and ethically above reproach.
5. Again, because it is very important, the candidate must not know he/she is being sponsored and considered for membership in the Fraternity.
