Qualifications of Academy Board Members for Eaton RESA Authorized Charter Schools
To be qualified for appointment or re-appointment to serve on a charter school’s board of
directors on or after March 28, 2012, a person shall, among other things:
- Be a citizen of the United States;
- Be a resident of the State of Michigan;
- Reside within the geographic boundaries of Eaton RESA;
- Submit all materials requested by the Eaton RESA Superintendent including, but not limited to, this application which must include authorization to process a criminal background check of the nominee; and
- Submit annually a conflict of interest disclosure as prescribed by the Eaton RESA Superintendent (or designee).
Each charter school board of directors shall include representation from the local community in
which the charter school operators.
The members of the charter school’s board of directors shall not include: (a) employees of the
charter school; (b) any director, officer, or employee of a service provider or management
company that contracts with the charter school; or (c) an Eaton RESA official or employee.
Length of Term
The directors of the charter school board shall serve at the pleasure of the Eaton RESA board.
Terms of the initial positions of the charter school board shall be staggered in accords with The
Charter School Board of Directors Table of Staggered Terms and Appointments established and
administered by the Eaton RESA Superintendent (or designee). Subsequent appointments
shall be for a term of office not to exceed three (3) years, except as prescribed by The Charter
School Board of Directors Table of Staggered Terms and Appointments.
