Is observation of learning a well-established habit for you?
We define observation as the deliberate practice of sitting, watching, listening, thinking and capturing learning for the purpose of responding to it.
Do you value qualitative data and use it to inform your planning and practice?
Observation is the process by which photos etc become qualitative data because what they reveal becomes interpreted. This is the crux of assessment for learning - ie, data is for acting on.
Do you reflect in partnership with your learners?
We believe that reflection should be a relational process, where both teacher and learner benefit from the insights gained from the conversation. This is best done over evidence.
Do you write learning stories for your learners?
Learning stories are close to the best way to build and grow positive learner identities. They make assessment a mana enhancing process, which is great for learners of all ages.
