All tours are conducted in the outdoors, which is different from an amusement park that is equipped with all kinds of facilities. Therefore, it is possible for dangerous situations to suddenly arise in a natural environment, which is prone to change. Please be sure to check the section on things to note before your trip on the official website, and follow the safety instructions given by your tour guide during the tour.

During outdoor activities, everyone is responsible for their own safety and is not to engage in dangerous behavior. Unforeseeable situations may occur in a natural environment, so please act responsibly.

Please wear appropriate clothing and check what you are bringing along for the trip. Since Shiretoko is the habit of the brown bear, please do not bring food or drinks that give off any scent or contain sugar.

Depending on the weather and the conditions of the natural environment on the day of the tour, the itinerary of the trip may be modified or the trip may be cancelled if there is a safety concern. If the weather changes or bears appear after the tour has started, the tour will be suspended or adjusted at the guide’s discretion. Once the trip has started, no refunds will be given; we offer our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

If you are unable to observe and assist in carrying out these safety precautions, we reserve the right to cancel your participation in the tour.

Do you have an existing medical condition, injury, or allergy? Are you on long-term medication? Are you pregnant? Do you have a fever of 37.5 degrees or above? If you answer “yes” to any of the aforementioned questions, you are required to inform the tour guide of your medical condition for safety management purposes.

How is the current condition of your overall health?

During the tour, the tour guide may take photos or videos in which tourists may appear, and put them on our social media accounts or our official website for promotional purposes. If you do not wish to appear in these photos or videos, please inform us in advance.

We are not responsible for the loss, damage or malfunction of any valuable, cell phone, camera or other items during the tour, so please be careful with your personal belongings.

I will be respectful to the natural environment, and will not pick any plant, feed any living creature, leave anything behind or commit other acts that may affect the natural environment so as to do my part in helping to sustain a healthy ecosystem.

All of our tours are insured (death and disability coverage: maximum 10 million Japanese yen per person). LANTOKO will do its very best in managing safety during its tours, but in case of unforeseeable accidents, we recommend that tour participants take out additional insurance, such as travel insurance, injury insurance, etc.
